What’s your cancellation policy?
We do our best to make sure we're ready for you when you have an appointment and ask for the same courtesy. Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so we can try to fill your spot. We understand things can happen last minute and will work with you to rebook, however, priority booking always goes to clients in good standing. Canceling jeopardizes your spot on the regular calendar. Our nail artists don't currently take walk ins, so if you no show your appointment, they are often left hanging and may decline to book you again.
Why do you only offer manicures?
Our space is small and we like to focus on the creative aspects of nail art and ensuring you feel welcome and wanted along with making sure our nail artists can make the pay that they are worth.
What is Builder Gel and what does it do?
Builder gel is a base coat that adds strength to your natural nails for when you want to grow them out or if you put your mani through the ringer on a day to day basis.
What is Luxio Polish and what is it so important to you?
We use polishes that reflect what is important to us. Luxio and Magpie are high end, richly pigmented, gel polishes that are long lasting, durable, vegan and cruelty free.
Do you offer nail extensions?
YES! We currently can add Gel X Extensions onto any Nova nail service for $16. Just make sure to check the box under add-ons when you book your manicure.
What’s included with my manicure?
Every manicure includes nail shaping, light cuticle care, and moisturizer. You’ll choose between Simple Color, Nova Art, SuperNova Art, or Tailored Nova Art.
Do you have services for men?
Of course! Men are welcome to book any of our services. Whether you want something bare or totally out there, we’re here to accommodate.
Why do you have nail art palettes?
We love the idea of getting your nails done and making it extra meaningful by adding art details that you have a hand in personalizing. Our palettes are a little jumping board to get those creative juices flowing. Nova Nails are something we do for ourselves as a little act of self love that brightens our day even a little bit more, every time we see our hands and how we have cared for them. Reminding us that we do a lot and that we deserve a little shimmer and shine.
With Tailored Nova Art, can you really do anything?
Other than color and placement changes, any look not on our art palettes is considered Tailored Nova Art. Bring your idea, a picture of a painting, your favorite ceramic, that dress you die for, or anything else that's inspiring you today and we will consult with you to make a version of it manifest on your nails. Each nail artist has their own style and we suggest browsing through the Instagram #tailorednovasome and #tailorednovamore or their personal artist IG pages to get a feel for where their talent lies.
What if I only want one nail of art? How would that be that priced?
All of our nail art is priced as either NovaSome (art on up to four nails) or NovaMore (art on 5 - 10 nails). We feel this helps us keep things simple and ensure that our pricing structure remains transparent.
How early should I arrive?
We suggest arriving 10 minutes early to browse our nail art palettes, choose colors from the wall and get settled in. If you know what you want, you can always take a couple minutes to browse our retail offerings, since we are housed inside Mineral and Matter, a jewelry and gift store.
What if I'm late for my appointment?
We'll hold your spot for 10 minutes after the appointment time, but after that, our nail artists are welcome to leave on break, for the day or open it up to another client. We may still be able to fit you in, but might need to shorten your art options or even rebook for another time.
How long should my appointment take?
Appointment lengths vary depending on the Nova service you’re booked for.

Polish Removal adds 15 minutes to any service
Gel Removal adds 30 minutes to any service

Why do you charge for Gel Removal?
Gel removal adds extra time to prepping your nails for a manicure and we need to ensure our nail artists are paid for all of their time. We happily offer free removal to clients with a Nova mani already, as a thank you for your loyalty.
Where do I park?
Nova Nail Bar is located inside the retail store, Mineral and Matter. We are at 177 E 900 S, Salt Lake City in the Maven District. Our space is facing the 200 E side of the building and the sign outside is for Mineral and Matter, with our Nova Nail Bar logo on the door. There is a large parking lot in back, enter on 200 E, just a few doors North from our space, before you reach the Salt Lake Arts Academy. There are no restrictions on this lot. There is 2 hours street parking on the West side of 200 E and no restriction street parking on the East side of 200 E. There are also a handful of spaces on 900 S. See a handy map below:
How long will my manicure last?
Our gel polishes last perfectly through two weeks and often on to week three and even four, though you will see your natural nail growing out by then. We offer free repairs on a chipped or broken nail through week two and suggest a new manicure after that.
